Destigmatization Museum
Mental illness stigmas can prevent someone from seeking help and can be harmful. The best way to lessen stigma is through education and understanding. In order to bring mental illness education into the public eye, and provide a beacon of validation to those that have a mental illness, this mental illness destigmatization museum will showcase mental illness history, stigmas today, and experiential chambers that replicate mental illness experiences to further public understanding and awareness.
Located on the Las Vegas strip, the neural-network-inspired structure is designed to draw attention to the museum. This organic-shaped canopy hovers over the main hub space, providing a shaded space for the public to slow down and admire the structure.
With the strip on the west side and with the north-west corner being on an intersection, this project maximizes its connectivity to pull pedestrians into the museum. The museum sits in the south-east corner of the site, the farthest away from the strip.

To the right is a collage of what a potential experiential chamber could look like. This image is inspired by ADHD.
To the right is a conceptual hand-drawn render showing the relationship between the floating experiential chambers and the lobby. It was important to have the user descend into the main space so there is a level of separation between them and the busy Las Vegas Strip. This is a progress drawing.
